Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
  

Biscuit Dough

  • ½ cup Luke Warm Water
  • 1 packet Yeast
  • ¼ cup Sugar
  • 5 cups Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ cup Vegetable Shortening (or ½ lb cold diced butter)
  • 2 cups Buttermilk

Instructions
 

  • In measuring cup place Luke Warm Water, Yeast and Sugar and let sit for 5 minutest to allow yeast to develop.
  • In mixer fitted with dough hook place Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder and Salt. Run mixer to blend dry ingredients.
  • Add Yeast Mixture, Vegetable Shortening (or Cold Diced Butter) and Buttermilk and run until dough comes away from sides of mixer.
  • Let rest covered with a towel for 30 minutes.
  • Place dough on a floured surface and roll to about ½-inch thick and cut small biscuits.
  • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet spaced about 1-2 inches apart and brush with a little melted butter.
  • Bake in a 400℉ oven for 12-14 minutes or until lightly golden and flaky inside.
