Burgundy Poached Pears

This is a classic French dessert. You should try it at least once.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 Pears (1 pear per person)
  • Red Wine (to cover pears)
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • Crème Anglaise

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel, core and cut Pears in half.
  • In large saucepan place pears and add Red Wine to cover pears, Sugar, Cinnamon Sticks and Butter. Simmer until pears are tender and sauce is thickened and glossy.
  • Serve simply on a bed of the sauce. You can also embellish it with vanilla ice cream or vanilla Crème Anglaise.
