Flan

A classic Spanish dessert that is perfect after a wonderful hearty meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups Milk
  • 1 cup Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Pure Vanilla Extract
  • 1 pinch Salt
  • 12 Eggs (beaten)
  • 1 can Pumpkin Puree (optional and perfect for a Thanksgiving dessert)
  • 1 cup Additional Sugar
  • ¼ cup Water

Instructions
 

  • In saucepan warm Milk, Sugar, Pure Vanilla Extract and Salt. Add Beaten Eggs and optional Pumpkin Puree. Remove from heat and whisk gently.
  • Caramelize Additional Sugar and Water.
  • Pour caramelized sugar into oven proof dish. Slowly pour egg custard mixture over caramelized sugar and place the oven proof dish in a roasting pan ½ filled with water.
  • Bake in a 350℉ oven for 45-55 minutes or until custard is set. Refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
  • To serve fill large basin with hot water and place the oven proof dish in the hot basin for 1-2 minutes to soften the caramel sugar. Place a deep plate over custard and quickly invert. Slice and serve with some of the caramel sauce and a few fresh berries.
