Béchamel Sauce

Ingredients
  

  • 1 stick Butter
  • ¼ cup Flour
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • tsp Fresh Ground Nutmeg
  • 1 pinch Sugar
  • 1 cup Milk
  • ½ cup Heavy Cream
  • ½ cup Shredded Cheese (optional - white cheddar, gruyere or goat)

Instructions
 

  • In saucepan melt Butter. Add Flour, Salt, Nutmeg and Sugar to melted butter and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  • When flour has cooked and has a little nutty color add Milk and Heavy Cream. On a low heat cook, stirring often, until liquid thickens to a creamy sauce.
  • At this point you may add Shredded Cheese as an option for an even richer sauce - white cheddar, gruyere or goat.
