Bacon & Egg Strata

This is a very simple strata perfect for a New Year's Eve after midnight breakfast or any Sunday morning brunch.
This egg dish is great served with roasted potatoes, coffee and juice.

Cook Time 1 hour 12 minutes
Refrigerating & Resting Time 4 hours 5 minutes
Total Time 5 hours 32 minutes

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb Bacon
  • 6 Eggs
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 4 oz Softened Cream Cheese
  • 2 tbsp Hellmann's Mayonnaise
  • ½ tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper
  • ¼ stick Melted Butter
  • 2-3 cups Day-old Bread (broken into pieces)
  • 2 cups Cheddar Cheese (optional)

Instructions
 

  • Place Bacon on a baking sheet and bake in a 350℉ oven until browned. Let cool then cut into small pieces.
  • In mixing bowl place Eggs, Heavy Cream, Softened Cream Cheese, Mayonnaise, Salt and Black Pepper and mix well.
  • In a large casserole dish brush with Melted Butter
  • Place in casserole dish Day-old Bread broken into pieces and add cooked bacon and optional Cheddar Cheese.
  • Pour egg mixture over bread and cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate overnight or at least 4 hours.
  • Bake in a 350℉ oven for 50-60 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Let rest 5 minutes before serving.
