Sausage & Pepper Sliders

Mini sliders are still popular and a great way to serve a burger without filling your guests up before the meal.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 Onion
  • 2-3 cloves Garlic
  • 2 lbs Ground Pork
  • 1 Finely Diced Green Pepper
  • 1 Finely Diced Red Pepper (you can also add these to the onion & garlic start)
  • 1 Egg
  • ¼ cup Marinara Sauce
  • 3 tbsp Grated Pecorino Romano
  • 2 tbsp Fresh Chopped Basil
  • Bread: Mini-Buns (baby potato rolls are perfect but any bread you like is fine)

Instructions
 

  • In a food processor pulse Onion and Garlic until finely chopped. Place Onion mixture into a mixing bowl and add Ground Pork, Green Pepper, Red Pepper, Egg, Marinara Sauce, Grated Pecorino Romano and Basil. Blend well.
  • Let meat mixture rest in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to a few hours.
  • Form meat mixture into small patties. Place on a hot flat griddle or sauté pan and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side or until internal temperature reads 155℉ for safety.
  • Place on mini-buns (baby potato rolls are perfect but any bread you like is fine).

Notes

These are great just as is but I love serving them with caramelized onions and peppers, mozzarella and some marinara sauce or simply with catsup, lettuce and tomato slices. Whatever you like - anything goes.
