Apple Chutney

This is one of my mom's claims to fame recipes. Her applesauce always filled the house with a warm and comforting smell that made it home.
This is perfect with potato pancakes, latkes, pork chops, corn fritters, on a bowl of ice cream or just by itself.

Cook Time 25 minutes
Total Time 35 minutes
Course Appetizer, Side Dish
Servings 8

Ingredients
  

  • 5 lbs Apples (use a variety for texture and flavor)
  • ¼ cup Water
  • 2 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • ½ cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Cinnamon

Instructions
 

  • Wash, peel, core and cut Apples into chunks or slices.
  • Place apples in saucepan and add Water, Lemon Juice, Sugar and Cinnamon.
  • Simmer until apples are soft. Add a little more water if needed. Taste and adjust sugar and cinnamon according to your taste.
