Angel Biscuits w/ Kentucky Ham

Ingredients
Biscuit Dough
- ½ cup Luke Warm Water
- 1 packet Yeast
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 5 cups Flour
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- ½ tsp Salt
- ½ cup Vegetable Shortening
- 2 cups Buttermilk
Assemble
- Honey Mustard (store bought or prepared separately)
- Southern Smoked Ham (prepared separately)
- Slices of Sharp Cheddar Cheese
- Orange Marmalade
Instructions
Biscuit Dough
- In measuring cup place Luke Warm Water, Yeast and Sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes to allow yeast to develop.
- In mixer fitted with dough hook place Flour, Baking Soda, Baking Powder and Salt. Run mixer to blend dry ingredients. Then add Yeast mixture, Vegetable Shortening and Buttermilk.
- Run until dough comes away from sides of mixer. Let rest covered with a towel for 30 minutes.
- Place dough on a floured surface and roll to about ½" thick and cut small biscuits. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet spaced about 1-2" apart and brush with a little melted butter.
- Bake in a 450℉ oven for 12-14 minutes or until lightly golden and flaky inside. Let cool.
Assemble
- Split and spread with a little grain mustard or honey mustard and a small slice of Southern Smoked Ham, a Slice of Sharp Cheddar Cheese and a dot of Orange Marmalade.
Notes
These biscuits are also perfect at breakfast or brunch served with butter and fruit preserves.
