Ingredients

  • Strong Pot of Espresso (or Dark Roast Coffee)
  • Sugar (to taste)
  • Ouzo (optional Greek liquor - 1 oz per cup)
  • Lemon Peel (optional - 1 per cup)

Instructions

  • Make a strong pot of Espresso or Dark Roast Coffee.

Notes

If you don't have the traditional Greek pot to make coffee (a briki) you may certainly use an espresso maker or even an American coffee maker or even a saucepan. The trick is to start with very cold water. The real goal is to get a rich and frothier coffee. To make as authentic as possible without a briki, place coffee grounds in pot and add cold water to pot. One demitasse of water per serving. Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Slowly pour coffee into demitasse cups to serve.
