Penne alla Vodka

This special Italian pasta dish has become a real American favorite.

Ingredients
  

  • Penne (quantity based on number of guests)

Vodka Sauce

  • 3 tbsp Olive Oil
  • ½ stick Butter
  • 2 Finely Diced Onions
  • 3 cloves Minced Garlic
  • 2 cans Crushed Tomatoes
  • ¼ cup Chopped Basil
  • ½ cup Vodka
  • ½ qt Heavy Cream
  • ¼ cup Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese

Instructions
 

  • Prepare Penne according to directions - drain - and set aside.

Vodka Sauce

  • Sauté Olive Oil, Butter, Onions and Garlic. Cook until onions are soft but not browned.
  • Add Crushed Tomatoes and Basil. Simmer for 30 minutes until tomatoes don't taste raw.
  • Add Vodka, Heavy Cream, Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese.
  • Bring sauce up to heat and toss pasta into pan.
