Sliced baguettes (a classic)
Thick-sliced cinnamon raisin bread (always great)
Brioche slices (usually my 1st preference)
American white bread (personally my last resort)
Make The Soaking Mixture
Blend together eggs, milk, melted butter, pure maple syrup, Kahlua, cinnamon, salt, pure vanilla extract, brown sugar and soak bread in mixture.
Skillet Option
Place soaked bread on a sheet pan and drizzle more liquid over top, cover and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, in a hot skillet brushed with butter cook French toast 3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
Baked Option (Our Family Favorite)
Line a buttered baking dish with soaked bread (they can overlap a little), add more liquid to coat and sprinkle with chopped pecan (optional), cover and refrigerate overnight.
Bake in oven for 50-60 minutes at 350℉ or until bubbly and golden brown.
